LPN - Mexico School District is accepting applications for the position of LPN.  Benefits are offered including 100% paid health insurance.  

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Shall meet all state licensing requirements
  2. Licensed Practical Nurse degree
  3. Two years of related job experience
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO:   Director of Health Services/Building Principal

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

General Purpose: To assist the Director of Health Services in providing the fullest possible educational opportunity for each district student by minimizing absence due to illness and creating a climate of health and well-being in district schools.

 

Main Job Task and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists the Director of Nursing, school health committees, and administrators in developing school health programs.
  2. Observe students regularly to detect health needs.
  3. Instructs teachers on screening students for health defects.
  4. Maintains up-to-date cumulative health records on all students.
  5. Assumes authority for caring for all students or staff members who have suffered an injury or emergency illness.
  6. Administers first aid when needed.
  7. Makes recommendations to the building principals on the health needs of individual students.
  8. Implements Board policy on exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.
  9. Participates in in-service training programs.
  10. Assists school personnel in maintaining sanitary standards in schools.
  11. Conducts school health service, including immunization verifications, vision screening, health assessments, and physical examinations.
  12. Assumes responsibility for selection and referral of students in need of medical and dental care.
  13. Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and others on school-related health matters.
  14. Makes home visits when necessary.  Transports children when necessary.
  15. Advises on modification of the educational program to meet the health needs of individual students.
  16. Attends committee meetings and conferences regarding health services and health curriculum.
  17. Participates with school staff in developing and implementing a total school health program.
  18. Assumes responsibility for any medications in the school provided by parents for students in accordance with Board policy.
  19. Cooperates with mandated health-related programs such as Parents as Teachers and Early Childhood.
  20. Cooperatives with Parents As First Teacher and Pre-Kindergarten program as to health-related issues.
  21. Teaches principles of health promotion and disease prevention as needed or requested.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine-month year.  

Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.

 

EVALUATION: The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with

 provisions of the Board's policy on the Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
