The Mexico Public School District seeks Title I Reading teacher for the 2024-2025 School Year for Eugene Field Elementary.  The candidate must participate in collaborative conferences and other meetings to determine appropriate services to address identified students’ needs as well as analyze student performance data for the purpose of making instructional decisions.

 

 

 TITLE: Title I Elementary Reading Teacher

 

CATEGORY: Instructional

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Shall meet all state certification requirements in subject area
  2. Bachelor of Science with major in subject area
  3. Two year successful teaching experience
  4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent

 

JOB GOAL: To provide strategies for teaching and supporting students in the literacy skills needed to learn to read, read to learn, and comprehend.                                                          

                                                                                    

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate and facilitate the school’s literacy intervention program.
  2. Collaborate with teachers individually to identify the literacy needs of students, to set learning goals and targets, and to problem solve with teachers to develop best practices for continuous academic growth of students in literacy.
  3. Assist teachers with the collection of data, analysis of data results and supports the sharing of findings with all staff.
  4. Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate reading and writing intervention and support services.
  5. Teach targeted literacy intervention to small groups of students daily using research-based strategies and resources.
  6. Follow the guidelines and requirements set by the Federal Programs using the Title I funds.
  7. Assist students using software and materials related to literacy programs.
  8. Meet regularly with the classroom teacher to plan literacy instruction that correlates with the individual student’s needs or as requested by the classroom teacher.
  9. Attend professional development to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content, especially literacy.
  10. Maintain and submit accurate and up–to-date management records of all student’s progress.
  11. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Compensation set by the School Board annually.  The Title I reading teacher is required to work such hours and days as are needed to complete necessary responsibilities.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
