SITION TITLE: Teacher - Vocational Agriculture Instructor
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
LOCATION: Hart Career Center
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Vocational Agriculture Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in agricultural education, including both classroom instruction and hands-on learning experiences. This role involves teaching students about various aspects of agriculture, including plant science, animal science, agribusiness, horticulture, and agricultural mechanics. The teacher will also be responsible for guiding students in the development of practical skills, promoting career awareness in agriculture-related fields, and ensuring a safe, positive, and productive learning environment. Additionally, the vocational agriculture teacher will oversee student participation in extracurricular activities such as FFA (Future Farmers of America) and support students in building leadership, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional lessons in various agricultural topics, including plant science, animal science, agribusiness, horticulture, and agricultural mechanics.
- Provide hands-on learning experiences through laboratory activities, field trips, and real-world applications.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide individualized support to ensure academic success.
- Supervise and support student participation in extracurricular activities, such as FFA, agricultural competitions, and community service projects.
- Foster student leadership development, teamwork, and career readiness through agricultural-related programs.
- Maintain and manage equipment, tools, and resources needed for agriculture labs and projects.
- Collaborate with other educators, community partners, and industry professionals to enhance agricultural education opportunities for students.
- Keep accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant data.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students during practical activities and while using equipment and tools.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with trends and advancements in agriculture and vocational education.
- Support students' career development by providing guidance on internships, job placements, and post-secondary opportunities in agriculture fields.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administrators regarding student progress and program activities.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Annual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.
Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
