POSITION TITLE: Speech-Language Pathologist -SLP

QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification

REPORTS TO: Special Education Director and/or Building Principal



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree (SLP)
  • Missouri State Licensure through the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts (SLP)
  • American Speech Language Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (preferred)
  • Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY-SLP) applicants are welcome to apply, ability to pass a background check in accordance to district and DESE policies.



GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The SLP shall assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to students exhibiting speech, language, and/or voice disorders to reduce problems impacting functioning in the educational setting. Duties shall include but are not limited to:

  • Student screenings for determination of speech/language evaluation needs
  • Speech/language evaluations and interpretation of results.
  • Development of Individual Education Plans (IEP) and implementation of treatment.
  • Maintenance of progress notes for progress monitoring and reporting.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement classroom activities and supports to promote speech and language skills of students.
  • Provide staff development and support related to speech and language functioning of students. 
  • Demonstrate effective and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and community. 
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with peers, possess a positive attitude and be flexible with change. 
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. 
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  

Annual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of  Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.

Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.

 

EVALUATION: 

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
