POSITION TITLE: Teacher - Diesel Technology Instructor
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
LOCATION: Hart Career Center
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide quality education and training, relevant to current industry standards, and to ensure students’ success in the Diesel Technology field.
- Works with the program’s Advisory Committee to maintain current industry standards; incorporates current practices from business, industry and education to support instruction. NCC
- Develops and maintains industry relevant curriculum and related instructional activities.
- Performs preventative maintenance and minor repairs on shop/lab equipment as needed.
- Organizes classroom and /or laboratory in a manner which is conducive to learning.
- Maintains positive classroom management by setting and communicating high, consistent expectations for learning and achievement.
- Employs a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Recognizes the teacher’s responsibility for monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction accordingly; evaluates students’ accomplishments and progress in a timely and consistent manner.
- Prepares and grades classroom and lab assignments and examinations, and informs students of their academic progress and competency attainment.
- Develops relationships with business and industry to remain current and secure internship opportunities for students.
- Assists students in obtaining related employment upon successful completion of the program.
- Attends meetings; participates in faculty, grade level and subject area committees and sponsorship of activities.
- Performs basic computer functions; uses Career Center software for recording grades and finding student information.
- The individual who holds this position will be in a school setting, but will be exposed to rust, grease and dirt. They will sometimes work outdoors in temperatures below freezing and in hot conditions. The individual will work in an environment that is noisy and may have smoke and/or diesel fumes.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Annual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.
Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
