POSITION TITLE: Bus Aide
QUALIFICATIONS: Sub Certification
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation
LOCATION: District Wide
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Bus Aide assists the bus driver in providing safe, orderly, and supportive transportation for students. The Bus Aide helps maintain student behavior, ensures safety procedures are followed, and provides additional supervision and assistance to students during transport, including those with special needs.
JOB DUTIES:
- Assist the bus driver in supervising students while loading, unloading, and riding the bus.
- Help ensure students remain seated, follow safety rules, and behave appropriately during transport.
- Provide assistance to students with special needs, including securing seat belts, harnesses, or mobility devices as required.
- Support students during emergency drills or emergency situations according to district procedures.
- Communicate student behavior concerns or safety issues to the bus driver and Transportation Director.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Follow all district policies, safety guidelines, and transportation procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information.
- Assist with documentation or reporting as required by the transportation department.
- Participate in training activities as required by the District.
- Performs other duties as directed by supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As assigned (school days)
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
