POSITION TITLE: Teacher Aide

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Teacher Aide provides instructional and clerical support to teachers in the classroom to assist in creating a positive learning environment that supports student achievement. This position helps ensure that students receive the guidance, supervision, and assistance they need to succeed academically and behaviorally within the school setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assist the classroom teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom activities.
- Provide individual or small-group academic support to students under the direction of the teacher.
- Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during transitions as assigned.
- Support students with special needs in accordance with individualized education programs (IEPs) or 504 plans.
- Help maintain an orderly, safe, and engaging classroom environment.
- Assist with grading, recordkeeping, attendance, and other clerical duties.
- Operate educational technology and equipment used in classroom instruction.
- Reinforce positive behavior and support classroom management strategies established by the teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
Participate in professional development and staff meetings as required.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Must work under the direct supervision of coordinating teachers when providing instructional services.
- May provide one on one tutoring for eligible students, if the tutoring is provided at a time when the student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher.
- May assume limited duties that are assigned to similar personnel, including duties beyond classroom instruction.
- Assist students to complete instructional activities.
- Assist in the supervision of students as required to meet individual needs.
- Participate in training activities as required by the District.
- Performs other duties as directed by supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 Month Employment
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with
provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
