POSITION TITLE: Teacher - Gifted
QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper state certification
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and/or Building Principal
LOCATION: Elementary Level
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Gifted Teacher is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students identified as gifted, fostering their intellectual, creative, and academic growth. This role involves designing and implementing differentiated curriculum, creating enrichment opportunities, and tailoring learning experiences to meet the needs of advanced learners.
- Develop and implement differentiated curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of gifted students.
- Provide enrichment activities and opportunities that challenge students intellectually and creatively.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide ongoing feedback to support academic growth.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure the success of gifted students.
- Create individualized learning plans for students based on their unique strengths and needs.
- Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills among gifted learners.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, including assessments and reports.
- Organize and lead special programs, workshops, or extracurricular activities for gifted students.
- Advocate for the social, emotional, and intellectual well-being of gifted students.
- Stay current with best practices in gifted education and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Support and mentor students to develop self-awareness and self-advocacy skills.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Annual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.
Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
