POSITION TITLE: Bus Driver

QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)  

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

LOCATION: District Wide

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, and extracurricular activities, ensuring timely arrival and departure.
• Follow designated bus routes and schedules, making necessary adjustments when required.
• Ensure the safety of students while boarding, riding, and exiting the bus, including supervising students’ behavior on the bus.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition and free from safety hazards.
• Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to the transportation supervisor in a timely manner.
• Maintain a clean and organized bus, ensuring it meets safety and sanitation standards.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and supervisors, addressing any concerns or issues professionally and promptly.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and school district policies, including speed limits, school zone regulations, and student behavior management protocols.
• Assist students with disabilities or special needs in boarding, securing, and safely riding the bus as required.
• Complete required documentation, including student attendance, incident reports, and daily logs.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with safety regulations, driving techniques, and school district policies.
• Respond to emergency situations calmly and efficiently, providing first aid if necessary or coordinating with emergency responders when needed.
• Performs other duties as directed by supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year to be established by the Board.

Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with 

provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.
