TITLE:   Speech-Language Pathologist -SLP




CATEGORY:    Special Education

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree (SLP), Missouri State Licensure through the Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts (SLP), American Speech Language Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (preferred), Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY-SLP) applicants are welcome to apply, ability to pass a background check in accordance to district and DESE policies.

 

REPORTS TO:  Special Education Director, Building Principal

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

General Purpose:    To work with school district programs, staff, and students, to meet the speech and language needs of students.

 

Main Job Task and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Fulfills the contractual agreement entered into with Mexico Public School District.
  2. Follows school district policies and procedures, as applicable.
  3. Follows Special Education process for identification of students with educational Speech/Language disabilities.
  4. Attends, when applicable and appropriate, meetings (i.e. IEP, evaluation, and review of information) concerning students with educational disabilities or suspected educational disabilities.
  5. Consults with and educates staff, parents and students concerning speech and language.
  6. Ability to schedule and work with school staff to schedule therapy or interventions for designated students with disabilities.
  7. Attends, when applicable and appropriate, meetings (i.e. IEP, evaluation, and review of information) concerning students with disabilities or suspected disabilities.
  8. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior in accordance with DESE guidelines.
  9. Provides the school district with documentation needed for record keeping.
  10. Bills Medicaid utilizing the current district billing platform (e.g., Therapy Log).
  11. Seeks to improve his/her competency and completes licensing requirements by participating in some form of professional growth; such as professional seminar or workshop; or professional graduate study.
  12. Ability to supervise Speech Language Pathology Assistants (preferred).
  13. Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.




TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  

Annual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of  Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.

 

EVALUATION: 

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
