POSITION TITLE: Teacher - Pathways into Education

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated teacher to guide and mentor students who are aspiring to enter the educational field. This position involves teaching aspiring educators the foundational knowledge, teaching techniques, and practical skills needed to become successful professionals in education. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to fostering the growth and development of future educators.
- Curriculum Development: Design and implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers key topics such as classroom management, pedagogy, lesson planning, educational theories, and instructional technology.
- Instructional Delivery: Teach students the foundational principles of teaching and learning, including instructional strategies, student engagement techniques, and assessment methods. Adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Student Mentorship: Serve as a mentor and role model for students aspiring to enter the teaching profession, offering guidance on both academic and professional development.
- Hands-on Training: Provide practical, real-world applications for students to practice teaching skills, including simulations, teaching demonstrations, and observations in local classrooms or educational settings.
- Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student progress through assignments, projects, and exams. Provide constructive feedback and support to help students improve their teaching skills.
- Professional Development: Stay current on the latest trends and research in education, as well as teaching best practices. Participate in professional development opportunities to continuously enhance teaching methods and strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other educators, school staff, and administration to ensure students receive a well-rounded educational experience. Collaborate with faculty on curriculum updates and improvements.
- Classroom Management: Demonstrate effective classroom management strategies and help students develop their own techniques for creating a positive, inclusive, and productive classroom environment.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Annual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.
Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
