The Mexico Public School District seeks an outstanding instructional leader who is student-centered to serve as the McMillan Early Learning Center Assistant Principal for the 2025-2026 school year. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with strong leadership skills and be dedicated to meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of all learners.
POSITION TITLE: Assistant Principal
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
LOCATION: McMillan Early Learning Center
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Appropriate certification
- Master’s degree or higher
- Administrative experience - Preferred
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Serves as the principal in the absence of the regular principal.
- Proposes schedules of classes and extracurricular activities.
- Supervises the preparation of student schedules.
- Works with department heads and faculty in compiling the annual budget requests.
- Manages supplies, textbooks, and equipment; conducts inventory; maintains records; and checks on receipts for such materials.
- Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities
- Assumes responsibility for coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support services.
- Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the attendance supervisor for investigative follow-up objectives.
- Performs such record-keeping functions as the principal may direct.
- Supervises extra-curricular activities as needed.
- Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings as assigned.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
- Remain current on instructional practices in education.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Building Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 month contract year
Annual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.
Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
