POSITION TITLE: HCC Instructor - Vocational Agriculture 

REPORTS TO:       Director of Hart Career Center

LOCATION:           HCC

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education or related field
• Valid Missouri teaching certificate in Agricultural Education
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate

 

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Vocational Agriculture Instructor provides high-quality instruction in agricultural education courses that prepare students for careers and post-secondary opportunities in agriculture, agribusiness, and related industries. This position delivers standards-based instruction aligned with district curriculum and Missouri Learning Standards while integrating leadership development through FFA and supervised agricultural experiences (SAEs). The instructor fosters hands-on learning, career readiness, and community partnerships to promote student growth and achievement.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Instruction and Curriculum

• Plan and deliver standards-based agricultural education instruction aligned with Missouri Learning Standards and CTE competencies
• Teach courses in areas such as plant science, animal science, agribusiness, agricultural mechanics, and natural resources
• Integrate classroom instruction with laboratory, shop, and hands-on learning experiences
• Supervise and evaluate Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs
• Utilize industry-relevant technology, tools, and equipment to enhance learning
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on assessment data

Student Leadership and Program Development

• Serve as FFA Advisor and oversee chapter activities and leadership development
• Coordinate participation in FFA contests, conferences, and community service activities
• Develop and maintain community and industry partnerships
• Promote career exploration and post-secondary opportunities in agriculture
• Assist students in developing career and technical skills aligned with workforce demands

Assessment and Communication

• Assess student learning through formative and summative measures
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and SAE documentation
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and program activities
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school meetings

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with CTE staff, school personnel, and community partners
• Participate in professional development related to agricultural education and instructional practices
• Maintain program compliance with state and federal CTE requirements
• Follow district policies, procedures, and professional standards
• Support school events and activities as assigned

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations
• Attend meetings as assigned
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, livestock, and facilities
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy
• Remain current on industry trends and instructional practices in agricultural education
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of HCC

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Ability to move throughout classroom, laboratory, shop, and outdoor environments
• Ability to supervise students in agricultural facilities and off-campus activities
• Occasional lifting of equipment or materials
• Participation in FFA events and activities outside regular school hours

• Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  9 month contract year

Annual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of  Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.

Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.

 

EVALUATION: 

Performance will be evaluated by the Building Principal in accordance with district policies and teacher evaluation procedures.
